Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) has established itself as an evidence-based psychotherapy for the treatment of trauma and other related mental health disorders. In recent years, several major organizations have endorsed EMDR (the Department of Defense and Veterans Administration and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies) as an efficacious treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Research continues to demonstrate the widespread applicability of EMDR in a variety of clinical presentations.
Jamie Marich is an award-winning EMDR researcher and experienced clinician. This seminar recording will utilize Jamie’s enthusiastic style and experiential activities to explain how EMDR works. Clear up common misconceptions about EMDR and understand the controversies surrounding its use. Case presentations and demonstrations will show participants how this therapeutic approach can serve as a powerful, clinical tool in the treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, phobias, substance use disorders, abuse and assault, and in the various problems confronting children and combat veterans.
This seminar will teach you how EMDR and its applications will enhance your knowledge of trauma in general and improve your overall efficacy. By the end of the seminar, you will gain a wealth of new material about addressing trauma and decide whether they wish to proceed with formal training in EMDR.
