Lesbian, gay and bisexual people are highly likely to appear in your clinical practice, but most clinicians have received little or no specific training or information to guide their clinical work with these clients. ABOUT CAROL CARVER
Carol Carver, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist with 25 years experience in private practice working with LGB clients as a sub-specialty and providing training for professionals who work with LGB clients. She is an engaging speaker who provides a wealth of examples from her clinical work. She easily translates research and theories into practical therapy strategies you can use in your practice.
Dr. Carver has participated in countless public forums, panel presentations and trainings for mental health professionals in Oregon, Washington, Pennsylvania and New Jersey on all aspects of sexual orientation. She has provided testimony to the Oregon Legislature on behalf of the Oregon Psychological Association concerning sexual orientation legislation. For the past 8 years she has provided in-depth training to clinical psychology graduate students on this topic, and was an invited general-session speaker for the Oregon Psychological Association on this topic in May, 2009.
Dr. Carver received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Nebraska. She is a past President of the Oregon Psychological Association, and has been honored by the American Psychological Association with the Karl Heiser Award for Professional Advocacy (1997) and by her local Lane County Psychologists’ Association with a Distinguished Service Award (2008). She maintains a fulltime private practice in Corvallis, Oregon.
