CLARE PURVIS, PSYD

Clare Purvis, PsyD, is dedicated to creating a more sustainable and equitable healthcare system by empowering people with tools that support better health. She has spent her career as a clinical psychologist building and scaling companies at the intersection of health and technology. As a startup executive and business leader, Clare has developed a deep understanding of the healthcare system, with an eye on how technology can positively transform the industry.

Clare started her career running clinical product development and coaching at a mental health startup serving consumers, employers, health systems, and health plans before returning to Stanford to complete a fellowship in value-based healthcare design. There, Clare focused on the role of technology to scale delivery of team-based, high-value primary care.

Clare later joined Headspace where she served as VP of Clinical Product and Content and Head of Science. During her time there, Clare built the company’s applied behavioral science division, oversaw clinical research, established and led a subsidiary digital therapeutics business, and led the company’s strategic expansion into Telemental health and coaching. Since then, she has consulted on digital health product and business strategy with companies ranging from seed stage startups to Google Health. She currently serves as global head of experience for digital healthcare at Sanofi, a global pharmaceutical leader. She also serves as an advisor to startups focused on improving women’s and children’s health, including Brightline, Real, and Flo. In 2017, Clare founded WELL to empower women clinicians and scientists to reshape the digital health industry as business leaders, leveraging her expertise and industry relationships to build a thriving community and bespoke professional development programming.

Clare graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and holds MS and PsyD degrees from the PGSP-Stanford Consortium. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in value-based healthcare design at the Stanford Clinical Excellence Research Center.
