Paul LaBounty, PhD, MPT, CSCS, CPSS, earned his BS in Health from Texas A&M University at Commerce in 1997. He later completed his Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 2002. In 2007, he earned his PhD in Exercise, Nutrition, and Preventive Health from Baylor University.
Since finishing his education, Paul has worked as A Fitness Specialist at the Cooper Fitness Center in Dallas, TX. Additionally, he also worked as a physical therapist in both outpatient orthopedics and in home health settings. After completing his doctoral work, he accepted his first academic appointment as an Assistant Professor of Human Anatomy, Physiology, and Nutrition at Baylor University in 2007. He became a tenured Associate Professor at Baylor University in 2013. In 2015, he accepted a dual-appointment faculty position at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (UMHB) and teaches in both the School of Exercise and Sport Science and the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He is currently a tenured full professor at UMHB. He has been a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA since 2003. Additionally, he is also a Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS). He is a member of TACSM and NSCA.
