Dr. Debbie Joffe Ellis, is a licensed mental health counselor in New York. She has an active private practice in New York City and also delivers lectures, workshops and seminars throughout the USA and across the globe on the effectiveness of REBT treatment techniques.
In 1993, Dr. Joffe Ellis was (along with Mother Teresa and the physician to the Dalai Lama) awarded a gold medal by the Indian Board of Alternative Medicine, in affiliation with the World Health Organization, for her contributions to the field of alternative medicine.
Dr. Joffe Ellis spent several years studying yoga, meditation and philosophy in India, and whilst there also did volunteer work to help local villagers.
She has been recognized for her volunteer work with recovery workers and family members of victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks in New York City in 2001 and beyond, and for her contributions to the international development of educational programs on addiction treatment in Mexico in 2008.
In addition to presenting on REBT and related topics throughout the USA and around the globe, Dr. Joffe Ellis is completing a book she and her husband started working on together about REBT and Buddhism.
