Mike Studer is an internationally renowned physical therapist with over 30 years of experience and a track record of innovation in neuro rehabilitation. A sought-after speaker, he has presented in all 50 states, 10 countries, and 4 continents, sharing expertise on topics such as cognition and psychology in rehabilitation, stroke, motor learning, balance, dizziness, neuropathy, and Parkinson’s disease. He holds a trademark and a pending patent in dual-task rehabilitation, cementing his reputation as a thought leader in this cutting-edge area.
Mike is a four-time and current world record holder for the fastest underwater treadmill marathon, showcasing his commitment to blending innovation and fun in his profession. He has authored over 35 articles and six book chapters and collaborates on clinical research with leading universities. Mike is also the author of the acclaimed book The Brain That Chooses Itself: A Personalized Journey to Optimal Recovery and Performance, which explores strategies to harness neuroplasticity and empower patients and clinicians alike.
Recognized as Clinician of the Year by both the Neurologic (2011) and Geriatric (2014) Academies of the APTA, Mike earned the highest honor in physical therapy – the Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the APTA – in 2020. His professional contributions also include serving as Vice President of the Academy of Neurologic PT and receiving the Mercedes Weiss Award for service to the Oregon chapter of APTA.
A co-founder and co-owner of Spark Rehabilitation and Wellness in Bend, OR, Mike serves as an adjunct professor at Touro University in Las Vegas and has led DPT coursework on motor control at Oregon State University.
